Message from Maggie Lehnert Kossowski, President of the Cultural Association Karma Kagyu de Benalmádena - Enlightenment Stupa:

Dear Friends,

I arrived to Kathmandu yesterday afternoon. There are still frequent aftershocks of a magnitude of 5-6. After the second major earthquake five days ago the spirit of the people here has been deeply affected, vulnerable and insecure of what will happen next.

Today morning, together with Lodro Rinpoche, I have visited the Swayambhu Stupa. The damages and devastation around the Stupa are beyond imagination.

Please continue to help support the tireless work of Karmapa-ShamarNag Committee which devotes itself to help the people of Nepal in a totally direct, efficient and transparent way in these difficult moments.

Dear Friends,

Nepal, the country where Buddha was born, so distant geographically but so close to our hearts, a country of humble and good people has been deeply struck by a devastating earthquake.

Thousands of people have died, thousands are seriously wounded, thousands are left homeless and without any means of survival.

In the remote, mountainous regions entire villages have been buried. Kathmandu Valley, partially damaged or destroyed is desolated and filled with sorrow.

There is lack of drinking water, electricity, lack of basic medical care and shelter for the wounded and those in need. All people of Kathmandu Valley sleep on the streets, under the rains of monsoon, in fear of the after shocks and its consequences. In these moments it is impossible to estimate the full extent of damages.

Nepal and its people need today our help. The smallest donation is sincerely appreciated and will be used for the most needed to heal their wounds and rebuilt their lives.
